Following the European Batteries Alliance initiative, a new regulation about “sustainable batteries manufacturing” is under discussion with the European Commission. RECHARGE has proposed a focused set of criteria to support both an economical and sustainable development of the battery industry. This session will give:

  • A review of the fields “open for discussion” and for potential introduction in the regulation
  • The vision of a circular economy based on key criteria for the batteries second life, end of live and recycling
  • Comparison of the questions raised by the Commission in 2020 and the industry concerns
  • Overview of the integration and harmonization of this new regulation in the existing regulatory framework
