During e-vehicle operation, venting of powertrain components is critical to equalize pressure, prevent ingress of contaminants and help extend drivetrain life.
Screw-Fit and Hose-Fit Powertrain Vents (PTV) are now available from Donaldson, a recognized leader in lubricant and vehicle filtration. These new vents bring two major advancements to powertrain venting: 1) compact direct-attach vent designs, and b) combined venting and filtration technology that helps keep oil in and contaminants out of a powertrain component.
Donaldson Screw-Fit and Hose-Fit Powertrain vents are compact and easy to integrate into powertrain components. The vents attach directly to an assembly for simple, standardized installation across vehicle models.
The second advancement is the combination of two important technologies – ePTFE membrane and SynteqTM XP pre-filter media. Inside our Powertrain Vents is an advanced ePTFE membrane engineered to filter out dust, debris, and liquid contaminants while equalizing pressure. Because of their water-repellent properties, Donaldson vents help protect powertrains from water intrusion if the vehicle breaches the water fording line during operation.
The other critical technology inside the vents is a coalescing pre-filter made of proprietary SynteqTM XP media that sheds oil. This pre-filter helps keep oil in a powertrain component by resisting lubricant saturation for better performance and longer vent life.
